Summary:

Back in Dublin, Artemis begins trying to decode the fairy’s book by comparing the symbols to different languages before finding a decent match with Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs. Once Artemis cracks the Gnomish code, he begins to plot how to get the gold from “The People.” We find out that Artemis’ mother is bedridden and very unwell, all of which started after the death/disappearance of Artemis’ father (who had been involved in some shady business). We also learn that Artemis is trying to return his family’s name and fortune to what it once was.
