Chapter 3: "Holly" Summary

Summary:

 

We first meet Captain Holly Short as she is preparing for another day as a LEPrecon officer, a sort of Special Forces police service. A fairy, Holly is the first female LEPrecon officer and so struggles with her coworkers and proving herself to her boss, Commander Root. In an attempt to prove herself, Holly volunteers to go topside and do recon on a renegade troll. New assignment in hand, Holly visits Foaly to prep for the mission before finally going to the surface where she finds the troll breaking into a restaurant. With the Retrieval team too far away, Holly goes in and fights the troll but reveals herself as she runs out of magic. When Commander Root and the Retrieval team finally arrive, Holly is ordered to go complete the Ritual to replenish her magic while the troll’s mess is cleaned up.

Anticipation Guide - worksheet with three sections: a brief summary of the three most important parts of in the plot (according to the reader), a character list with as much information about the character the reader can think of, and a list of three predictions for the upcoming reading that they can support with evidence to be revisited after reading the next section (recommended for the end of Chapter 3)
